zenmode was created by me, Leo Babauta, creator of Zen Habits. For nearly two decades, I’ve been writing about simplicity, focus, and building meaningful habits. I’ve been working to help people clear the clutter — physical, digital, and mental — so they can focus on what truly matters.
zenmode grew out of my desire to find a task app that works in the way that’s ideal for me.
My ideal task app would follow these main principles:
- Get clear each morning on what my priorities are (Daily Planning Ritual in zenmode)
- Focus on today, not everything that needs to be done (Today view in zenmode)
- Focus on each task, one at a time (Task Focus view, with focus timer, in zenmode)
- Be frictionless in capturing tasks & ideas, and in moving them (keyboard shortcuts and Quick Capture in zenmode)
- Organize the way life actually works — on a timeline (Timeline view in zenmode)
This is the tool I wish existed. It reflects the same philosophy I’ve been writing about for years: do less, but do it with your full attention. Strip away the noise. Trust that clarity will follow simplicity.
zenmode is not a startup, has no investors, and doesn’t need to make money. It’s a work of love.
